- Isu kesejahteraan guru, terutama guru honorer di Indonesia, seringkali menjadi cerita menyedihkan yang kita temui di berbagai media. Kondisi ini seakan terabaikan oleh pemerintah dan masyarakat. Keprihatinan mendalam terhadap kesejahteraan guru honorer inilah yang melatarbelakangi penulisan skenario "Mencerdaskan Kehidupan Bangsa". Skenario ini bertujuan menggambarkan realita kesejahteraan guru honorer di sekolah dasar serta menyuarakan hak-hak mereka dalam memperjuangkan kondisi yang diperparah oleh kemiskinan struktural, yaitu kemiskinan akibat sistem dan kebijakan yang tidak adil. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode concurrent mixed method melalui studi literatur, observasi, wawancara, dan kuesioner terhadap guru sekolah dasar. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata gaji guru sekolah dasar berada di bawah UMR, sehingga mereka harus berjuang keras dengan beban kerja yang tidak sebanding dengan upah. Diharapkan, penulisan skenario ini dapat menumbuhkan kepedulian, empati, dan menyuarakan hak-hak guru. Dalam proses penulisan skenario ini juga, mengedepankan pendekatan character-driven untuk menunjang perkembangan alur cerita melalui motivasi dan konflik internal dari tokoh utama.
- The issue of teacher welfare, especially for honorary teachers in Indonesia, often becomes a sad story that we encounter in various media. This condition seemingly goes unnoticed by both the government and society. Deep concern for the welfare of these honorary teachers is what underlies the writing of the screenplay "Mencerdaskan Bangsa" (Educating the Nation). This screenplay aims to depict the reality of the welfare of honorary teachers in elementary schools and to voice their rights in fighting for conditions that are exacerbated by structural poverty, which is poverty resulting from unjust systems and policies. This research employs a concurrent mixed-method approach through literature review, observation, interviews, and questionnaires directed at elementary school teachers. The main finding indicates that the average salary of elementary school teachers is below the regional minimum wage, forcing them to struggle with a workload that is disproportionate to their pay. It is hoped that the writing of this screenplay can foster concern, empathy, and advocate for the rights of teachers. In the writing process, this screenplay also emphasizes a character-driven approach to support the development of the storyline through the motivations and internal conflicts of the main characters.
