Abstract

Penciptaan karya busana ini berawal dari masalah perubahan fungsi kawasan Raja
Ampat yang dikenal dengan keindahan alam dan kekayaan budayanya, kini menjadi
lokasi tambang nikel yang menyebabkan kerusakan lingkungan. Karya ini dibuat
karena diperlukan busana yang tidak hanya indah tetapi juga bisa menjadi media
ekspresi dan edukasi untuk menyampaikan pesan tentang pentingnya menjaga alam
melalui media fashion. Berdasarkan pengamatan dan studi literatur belum ditemukan
busana ready to wear yang memvisualisasikan pulau Raja Ampat dengan memadukan
kain tenun, teknik sulam, dan makrame. Oleh karena itu, desain dalam penciptaan ini
menggabungkan teknik-teknik tersebut sesuai dengan Trend Forecast Artisanal
Elegance 2025. Proses penciptaan mengikuti metode tahapan Yaya Sukaya, mulai
dari pencarian ide dan gagasan, pendalaman dan pengembangan konsep, serta proses
perwujudan karya seni. Hasilnya berupa enam rancangan busana ready to wear yang
ditampilkan pada Society Intercultural Fashion Festival (SIFF) 2025. Penciptaan ini
juga membantu pengkarya lebih sadar terhadap nilai ekologis dan pentingnya
pemaknaan budaya dalam desain.

The creation of this fashion work began with the problem of changing the function of
the Raja Ampat area, which is famous for its natural beauty and cultural richness,
now a nickel mining site that causes environmental damage. This work was created
because of the need for clothing that is not only beautiful but can also be a medium of
expression and education to convey the message about the importance of preserving
nature through fashion media. Based on observations and literature studies, there
has not been found a ready-to-wear clothing that visualizes the Raja Ampat islands
by combining woven fabrics, embroidery techniques, and macrame. Therefore, the
design in this creation combines these techniques in accordance with the Trend
Forecast Artisanal Elegance 2025. The creation process follows the method of Yaya
Sukaya's stages, starting from the search for ideas and concepts, deepening and
developing concepts, and the process of transforming artworks. The result is six
ready-to-wear fashion designs that were displayed at the Society Intercultural
Fashion Festival (SIFF) 2025. This creation also helps the creators to be more aware
of ecological values and the importance of cultural meaning in design.
