Abstract

Penciptaan ini berangkat dari isu Social Comparison yang kuat di kalangan mahasiswa, dipicu oleh masifnya penggunaan media sosial yang menciptakan tekanan psikologis, perilaku hedonisme, dan ketidakpuasan diri. Fenomena ini kerap berujung pada penyalahgunaan sumber daya finansial ketika individu membandingkan realitas diri mereka dengan standar yang tidak setara, sehingga prnciptaan ini bertujuan merepresentasikan kompleksitas psikologis isu tersebut ke dalam karya seni. Menggunakan metode yang didasarkan pada tahapan proses kreatif mulai dari persiapan hingga perwujudan, konsep utama penciptaan ini adalah penggunaan bangunan sebagai metafora visual untuk strata sosial dan kondisi ekonomi. Representasi tersebut diwujudkan melalui lukisan impresionistik dengan teknik Vibrant Color, di mana fokus pada efek cahaya menyimbolkan ketidakstabilan emosional dan kecemasan, kontras dengan bentuk bangunan minimalis yang mencerminkan pencarian akan esensi diri. Hasil akhir dari penciptaan ini adalah empat karya lukisan dengan variasi ukuran kanvas yang direncanakan untuk disajikan melalui pameran tunggal guna memberikan kontribusi pada pemahaman visual mengenai korelasi antara seni, psikologi warna, dan kritik sosial kontemporer.

This final project is driven by the intense issue of Social Comparison among college students, triggered by the massive use of social media. This phenomenon creates psychological pressure, encourages consumerist behavior, and triggers self-dissatisfaction, especially when individuals compare their own reality with unequal standards, often leading to the misuse of financial resources. Therefore, this final project aims to represent the psychological complexity of social inequality through art. The creation method is based on the stages of the creative process, including preparation, inspiration, idea discovery, research, design, and realization. The main concept utilizes buildings as a visual metaphor for social strata and economic conditions. This representation is executed through Impressionistic Paintings using the Vibrant Color technique. The Impressionistic style, which focuses on light effects, was chosen to symbolize the emotional instability and anxiety caused by Social Comparison, contrasting with building forms that tend toward minimalism, reflecting the search for self-essence and authenticity. The result of this creation is a series of paintings that visually communicate contrast through composition and color psychology. This creation is expected to contribute to the understanding of the visual representation of Social Comparison and offer insights into the correlation between art, color psychology, and contemporary social criticism.
